Daylight Saving Time Ending
The countries in the northern and southern hemisphere are known for practicing daylight time saving. They adjust the clock during summer in order to have longer warm days. The clock is set one hour forward from the standard starting time during the summer and is set back during the autumn. It runs between March-April in the Northern Hemisphere countries. For the southern Hemisphere, it runs between September-November and March-April. This practice is used in the U.S as a trick to for energy conservation which can be dated back in the first World War.
The practice is found advantageous in that it helps in shifting the summer daylight to the evening. The energy is saved since people are not using lights in the evenings. It is also seen to be a way of reducing accidents since people can drive in the light during the evening. It also adds daylight in the evening hours where people are more active after the work.
The practice of daylight saving time has been in use for a long time. However, it is seen as irrelevant today and there are some moves to end Daylight Saving Time. There are arguments that the practice is foolish since people can use electricity nowadays. The energy can also be saved through some more efficient means. This practice has also been associated with some health complications such as body melanin.
To end daylight saving time, there have been several petitions where petitioners give different reasons. The daylight saving time end will relieve the people the burden of time adjustment on their clocks. The United States’ time zones are also going to be reduced from four to two. This b will bring into the same time zone states such as Chicago, Philadelphia, New York and Dallas.
Operating business or travelling in these states will therefore not require people to adjust time to fit the time zones. This will also make the central time zone the same. This will do away with some annoying television schedules. for example, schedules such as those that state “5:30 PM/ 4:30 Central”. There is also going to be a shift in time difference in the east coasts from three hours to two hours. In terms of travelling and commencing, people will b e amble to schedule their time properly.
In conclusion, there have been some benefits of using daylight saving time for a long time. However, the practice is also characterized with some negative effects. Ending the daylight saving time may have some more benefits as well. The consideration of the idea of abolishing daylight saving time by the government is worth pursuing.
